So I am 5 weeks into my cut and I've not lost any weight?!! In fact I have gained a minuscule amount of weight. Why? Yep that’s what I want to know.
It could be a number of reasons. Sorry guys but there is some lady stuff coming up here….My period was due at the start of my cut. I always gain arounuring my period, I thought ah ok this is normal. My period finished and I still didn't lose any weight. I had lost that 0.5kg period gain but I was still heavier than when I started the cut (when I say heavier, my average weight over the week is only 0.1kg more than when I started). We shouldn't always rely on the scales to know changes are happening but it is kind of a nice feeling to see the number reduce slightly.
This made me assess anything else that had changed. A couple of days after the cut starting I had to restart some medication which can cause initial water weight. Could this be the reason why I haven’t seen a change in the number on the scales?
I felt slimmer in parts of myself and a couple of people have commented they can see a change so I asked Micah if we could take some measurements and do my body fat.
My body fat has dropped by 2%, lean muscle mass has increased and fat mass has reduced. A pound of muscle in size is significantly smaller than a pound of fat therefore although your weight hasn't changed the shape of your body may have. Therefore could this be why the number on the scale hasn't changed?
I am going into week 6 now with my calories reduced again. I'm still enjoying lots of food, not stressing when I need to eat out and loving training.
