I train a lot of women. A lot of women also train in my gym and more and more I am seeing women lifting weights which I think is great. Being consistent is the number one way to make good progress. However I also see some common mistakes amongst inexperienced women training in the gym. Here are my top 3 with tips on what you should do to correct it.
Far too many women come in the gym and only train their lower body. How can you expect your body shape to change when you only train your lower body? What’s the point in having a nice ass and bingo wings? From a fat loss standpoint there are some big fat burning opportunities being missed here. Train your lower and upper body perhaps prioritising your lower body if that’s your main focus.
Pick the right booty exercises
Squats with no weight and a band around your knees isn’t going to grow you a booty. Nor are 100 donkey kicks with no weight. Sorry to inform you of this. Sorry if the girl you follow on Instagram sells shitty workout plans that have you doing this. What will grow you a booty is hip thrusting, squatting, deadlifting, split squats, back extensions, frequency and consistency.
If you want to make progress and improve you should be trying to get stronger in the gym. If you like using sets of 10 for example, over time the weight you are using for these sets should be going up. Don’t be afraid to increase the weight you wont get bulky.
