If you have been going to the gym for a long time and you're not seeing the results you require this post is for you. Yes YOU!!
I've been training people for a long time now and I can say nearly every time I get talking to someone or someone comes to me for help who isn't getting the results they want it always falls down to at least more than one of these reasons. Here are 5 reasons you are not getting the results you want from training.
1.Your diet needs adjusting
This is number one. There are so many reasons why your diet could need looking at it is far beyond the scope of this post. I have posted plenty about diet on my Facebook page you can scroll down and read or go to my blog on my website and look at the nutritional posts. Too many calories, too few calories, not enough protein are usually the main areas that people need to look at.
This is more for people trying to drop body fat. Too many people think they want weight loss but what they need is fat loss. Whatever happens on the scales is irrelevant if you are measuring yourself by how clothes fit, taking pictures and using tape measure measurements. I'm not saying you shouldn't use the scales as I think you should but only in conjunction with the other methods above.
In my opinion everyone should try and improve their strength. I'm not suggesting we all become powerlifters but if for example you can do 10 reps on the bench press with 50kg, you should be aiming to do 10 reps with 60kg over time. In order to get stronger you need to lift heavier weights. We all know the person that goes to the gym doing the same reps, same weights, same programme for months on end. Don't let that be you.
Set yourself a realistic target in terms of how many days per week you can train, stick to it and do it. Some weeks you may be able to train an extra day or 2 and that's even better, but don't set unrealistic targets and don't go below that minimum target. This type of consistency over time will make such a huge difference. In terms of eating, consistency is just as important. You cannot eat well all week and massively over eat on the weekend and expect good results because it's not going to happen!
If you are not getting the results you want I would strongly suggest you ask yourself if you think you are covering all the points in this post. If not try addressing them one by one and see if anything changes.
