There’s a common theme I see every year around the Christmas period. People over eat massively, put a fair amount of weight on then in January panic about how much weight they have put on.
The thing is a lot of people PLAN to over eat. They buy excessive amounts of high calorie foods they don’t normally consume, extra alcohol and snacks preparing to over eat. You have basically planned to put on body fat. This is no different than planning to go out on a Saturday night, buying your ticket and new clothes in advance ready to have a great night. You’ve made a plan and put things in motion ready to execute that plan.
One day of bad eating won’t set you back too much, if at all but a few days can make a huge difference. If your overall goal is to make changes to your physique don’t let the time of year allow you to deviate from that plan.
If you usually go to the gym 3-4 times a week try not to change that. If you are off work during the Christmas period you have no excuse, time is not an issue. Go in the morning get it done and out the way. If you are not off work then nothing has really changed, continue with your usual routine whether it be before or after work. In these instances perhaps shortening your sessions or condensing them down into fewer sessions for the week can be an option if needed.
Food wise don’t over buy. Buy enough for Christmas Day or so. If you have good self control you may want to sneak a few extra treats in for that week but if you don’t leave the extras. Don’t buy too many snacks and get back to your regular eating pattern on Boxing Day.
Don’t start your January 2 steps backwards start it on the right foot 1 step forwards.
