This is something that has been on my mind for a while now so I just need to get it off of my chest. I invite any vegan to have a constructive discussion on this topic with me if they choose. I respect everybody’s opinion, these are my own..
Something that really annoys me is the non meat eaters who choose to look down their noses at those people who do eat meat. There seems to be a small group of these people I come across on social media from time to time. They like to post videos about how bad the meat industry is, what meat is doing to our insides, how many animals are being slaughtered etc etc. Yet I’ve never come across a meat eater who look down their nose at non meat eaters or post about people not eating meat. These people may be out there but I’ve never come across them.
Why do these select few vegans feel the need to let everyone know they are vegan. On instagram bio’s I see “plant only” or “vegan”. Maybe I should put on mine #meateater…. I don’t get it. It almost feels like some vegans feel that they are better than meat eaters. Why do they feel the need to make a big deal out of their dietary habits or belittle other people. I don’t eat dairy and I don’t like chocolate. Shall I start a war against Easter? Or go on an easter egg smashing spree? You guys need to chill out.
Some suggest that we don’t know what happens to the meat we are eating. This is true. However if you smoke, drink or take drugs yet you don’t eat meat because it’s unhealthy I don’t think you are best placed to tell me what’s healthy for me.
Further more do you know what fertilisers are on the plant based foods you are eating? Me and my clients are in the business of making gains. We need protein to do this. Are you getting enough protein in your plant based diet to make these gains?
These days social media seems to be the google of information. I see people post up pictures of what they THINK is happening to our meat before we get it but what do you really know? Just because you read it or saw a picture doesn’t make it true.
I for one love meat. There is no conversation to be had about whether or not Micah Charles is going to stop eating chicken, steaks, burgers or bacon. None at all. You should do what you feel you need to do without looking down on others or trying to convince people what to do through uneducated guesses. I respect everybody’s opinion on food and if you choose to eat or not eat meat I have no beef or tofu with you
